Sheikh-e-Tariqat, Syed Muhammad Jilani Ashraf Kichhauchhvi

Founder and Chairman of Spiritual Foundation (Worldwide) .

Ladies and Gentlemen Mercy and Peace be upon you
Before any discussion on the initiation and development of Spiritual Foundation, let us enlighten ourselves with some usual and unusual events. It is about the year 1968, when Syed Muhammad Jilani Ashraf Kichhauchhvi, lone and companionless individual arrived in the foreign land of Bhiwandi (Mumbai) to serve the religion and
community. The foundation of Dar-ul-UlooomDinwan Shah was laid and the system of education and
learning progressed along with loyalty and oppression. Circumstances were favourable at times, while
painful during others, until the year 1990 arrived. (My 22 years stay at Bhiwandi shall be thoroughly
discussed in 2018 during the Golden Jubilee celebration of Dar-ul-UloomDiwan Shah)
To put it briefly, a friend of Allah ShaykhDulha Shah UwaysiQalandari (famously known as
Topi Wale Baba) said to me: “Now leave Bhiwandi and return to Kichhauchha to carry out a great work
there”. I packed my luggage, prepared my family and without any question departed to Lucknow and
started my duty. The work officially began under the banner of Spiritual Foundation in 1992.
I was commanded by HadratTopi Wale Baba: “PirSahab! Go to England” and I started
preparing. Visa was granted easily and I travelled to the UK in August 1992. As I was leaving, he said
to me:” PirSahab! You leave, and I will beat the drums for you (spiritually support you)”. I was in the
UK for approximately two and a half months.
I arrived back to India, and immediately travelled from Mumbai airport to MahimShareef
(residence of Alhaaj Rasheed Arab, where HazratTopi Wale Baba was staying). He asked Dr. Syed
KamaluddinQadri (his special companion and attender): “Who has arrived? Dr.Qadri replied to the
Shaykh: “Jilani Miya has returned from the UK”. I presented my greetings to him and the Shaykh
replied to me, and then without inquiring about my situation asked: “When will you go back again?”
With the overall success of the trip, I decided to rest for a while and informed him about my plans. In a
state of spiritual rage, he stated: “Will you rest? Are you thinking about relaxation? I will tie wheels in
your legs and then will see how you rest?” It is as if he was

saying:
The School of Love has strange ways
The brightest ones are put in detention

Since then whenever I met Dr. Kamaluddin Sahab, he would often accurately state: “Jilani
Miya! Life will be like a journey and comfort will only be gained in the grave”. Truely my friends!
Since that day till now, I received everything except rest. If one believes this to be an exaggeration,
then let him inquire from my friends and travel companions, and reality will become clear to him.
They will surely mention about their tiredness while talking about my toil and hard work.
My friends often observe the severity of my journeys, travels, hard work and struggle, but
usually discuss it in gestures. There are some, who openly share their feelings and ask me to rest by
lessening my travels due to my age; amongst them AlhaajRafique Lottery (Lisbon), Shaykh Hasan
Omar (South Africa), AlhaajSaleem Kareem (Mozambique), Hasan Sayed and Altamash Ashrafi.
I have still not been able to give them a rational answer till now.
Surely, my friends and well-wishers should gain the answers to their queries and concerns
by now. Perhaps a stanza from the poetry of my respected grandfather Sakar Muhaddith-e-Azam
e-Hind should be mentioned here:
Though my body is tired, but my soul is energised
In the path of searching the beloved, tiredness is not tiredness
Respected Readers! For 22 years, I have been involved in every department of life in
Bhiwandi, but the question remains as to whatBhiwandi gave me? Read if you wish to know that
the proximity as well as distance from grass level and high profile friends and rivals in Bhiwandi,
Mumbai and Maharashtra has given me self-recognition. It has given maturity to my thoughts,
vision, mind and intellect; and balanced energy to understand, observe and interpret matters of the
world and religion.
Friends! I convey the truth that the twenty-two years of mornings and evenings spent in
Bhiwandi has transformed the lowliness of negativity into the height of positivity. All praise be to
Allah; All praise be to Allah! It is for this reason that only feeling of love and brotherhood remains
for my people instead of hatred and bitterness. Constructive approach has prevailed and
destructive thinking has been erased. In this path of Good and Evil, the correctness of thought has
been instilled in the veins of my feet to control actions and reactions.
What has Bhiwandi given me, we have discussed it above with gratitude. Indeed, when the
constant strive during days and nights of life and its struggle, firm conviction and the spirit of love
gained the honour of acceptance, then the spiritual power that could transform impossibility into
possibility, changed my duty; or in other words, bestowed me with promotion, in which
conquering the World with love and brotherhood was my task.
It is for this reason my close friends in the UK often say, when they observe my schedule
that”
“Hadrat, you merely go to India for a visit!”
One would be able to observe this reality by looking at one year’s itinerary printed in this
souvenir.
Tiredness on the path of searching the beloved?

From Labour to Leadership
Kashf-ul-Quloob and Eminent Sufis
Respected Readers! The overall outcome of the discussion is that I remained constant on
this path of firm beliefs and continuous actions, and performed every task possible from labour till
leadership. These actions were carried out not through pressure or dislike but with limitless
passion of patience and gratitude.
Dear Readers! During my travels and stay around the World, various issued and matters
were dealt with. Alongside communication and experience with educational institutes,
Madarasah, Mosques, training centres, branches of Spiritual Foundation; gatherings and
educative sessions with scholars and Sufis of Ahl-ul-Sunnah wa al-Jam’ah; lectures and
conversations, mutual contributionsand assistance from local centres and schools, and with strong
links with Khanqahs and Dargahs (Sufi Institutes and Tombs), I (Faqeer Ashrafi) felt the need to
prioritise three main works.
Specific Attention towards three matters

Shaheed Allama Usaid-ul-Haq (who was the successor of Khanwada Qadriyya, Bedayoun
th Sharif) inaugurated the the 5 volume Kashf-ul-Quloob during the Urs of Makhdoom Ashraf

International Spiritual Training Camp
Purpose: to revive and propagate the teachings of the Sufis.

The compilation of Kashf-ul-Quloob and its development
Purpose: to promote and endorse the sciences of Tasawwuf to the new generation.

The construction and completion of Jamia Sufiyy
Purpose: to develop an educational, research and training centre of Tasawwuf and Sufis.
To achieve the objectives of the above-mentioned affairs, I continuously worked on it with
complete devotion.
